Birth: 23 September 1896 Stuart Town, NSW, Australia Death: 21 July 1917 (age 20) Belgium, Killed in Action Cemetery or Memorial: Ypres (Menin Gate) Memorial, Belgium Father: John MCKERVEY (23 April 1862 - 4 May 1931) Mother: Annie Agnes GALLEN (26 Aug. 1866 - 11 Dec. 1922) Reginald gave his occupation as Clerk, he worked for Railways Traffic Branch when he enlisted 22 August 1915 at Goulburn, and his next of kin his mother Annie Agnes McKervey of Mitchell Street Camden and later West Wyalong. Also listed as next of kin was his father John McKervey of Camden and later Guyra and Strathfield. Reginald's father John McKervey was Station Master at Camden at the time of his son's enlistment. The family lived in Mitchell Street. Reginald had previously served 3 years and was currently in the 43rd Infantry Militia. He served in the 36th Battalion A.I.F. and departed Sydney on the 'Ajana' 5 July 1916 and arrived France via England November 1916. Reginald's brother (Private 1676) Thomas Leslie McKervey served in the 55th Battalion A.I.F. in France and returned to Australia in May 1919. Lance Corporal Reginald Patrick Sarsfield MCKERVEY was reported Missing in Action 21 July 1917 Belgium and later confirmed Killed in Action on 21 July 1917 in Belgium age 20. |
